It’s okay to Not Be Productive during the pandemic.

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.

In this pandemic situation, we are constantly fetching information from news channels and social media. My Family talks about this pandemic so much that my two-year-old son has learned a new word, “Corona”.

This proves that we are in a difficult and scary situation. We are constantly worried about our job, business, and loved ones. In my social media feed, I am continuously getting these kinds of tweets and posts.

  • Be Productive and follow your passion.
  • If you are not learning something new now. You won’t be able to learn anything new ever. :face_palm.
  • Build the CORONA Tracker app. ENOUGH!!!!!.
  • Everyone is building something cool except YOU.
  • Completed all 4 Seasons of “Money Heist”

First of all, don’t get carried away by any of these posts.

Remember

  • Your physical, mental and emotional health is far more important than anything else right now.
  • Be kind to yourself. Not judging yourself based on how others are doing and this goes other way around too.

Note: The credit for the above lines goes to some random twitter thread which I don’t remember.

This is about surviving rather than being productive.

Also, don’t binge-watch all day for the sake of enjoyment and relaxation. It won’t do any good either. I am not against this. I watch tv series too but not in this manner. If you’ve time, just don’t waste it completely.

You just need to…

Balance it out.

The question you need to ask yourself is: “what do we give priority to?”

Do we give priority only to personal time

Or do we prioritize something we enjoy doing as well?.

Now don’t tell me you enjoy “binge-watching”. This is the same answer as folk saying “Sleeping is my hobby”.

To answer these questions let me share what I did.

This is what worked for me.

If I spent 2-3 hours on entertainment stuff then, I spend an equal amount of time on self-learning or self-development skills.

For example, if I watch a TV show for 2 hours then, I spend another 2 hours on doing exercise, reading books or coding.

Even if you are the lucky ones who have the luxury of working from home. This still isn’t easy. We are in a crisis.

Companies and Developers who have been working remotely for more than a decade, are also facing issues and challenges.

I highly recommend you listen to this podcast.

No matter how bad the situation gets, we need to keep our cool. Our health is something only we can take care of. Be safe. Be at home. This too shall pass.

Thanks for taking the time to read this blog. #StayHome #StaySafe

PS: Writing a short blog is way better than putting into twitter threads.
